As organisations continue migrating their systems, platforms and desktops to the Cloud to meet the demands of their stakeholders, and to optimise their systems, the need for a secure and efficient Cloud development grows. For many of the organisations we work with, migrating to the Cloud is a high-level priority.
Etonwood is a trusted Cloud recruitment partner working across contract and permanent roles.
End User Computing (EUC) & Office 365
EUC is no longer about merely providing a desktop computer, it is by far the most visible and in-demand service provided by an enterprise technology organisation. It is the conduit between the user and the business. EUC encompasses all aspects of the technology infrastructure – applications and OS, Market Data, Telephony and collaboration, mobile and BYOD. It marries together a myriad of technology functions. Our clients face increasing demand from their end-user communities to continually improve access and performance. End Users expect to be able to access business applications from any location on multiple platforms – often on the move.
We are keen to assist organisations looking to define a new EUC strategy or if your project is already in flight we can provide interim and/or permanent engineering or project delivery resource. Alternatively, if you are technologist looking to secure a new assignment and have experience of enterprise EUC, we would very much like to discuss your requirements.
Open Systems & *NIX
Unix/Linux (*NIX) systems are at the heart of the world’s most sophisticated financial systems. From Low Latency Automated Trading platforms to Back Office settlement systems, UNIX and its derivatives play a critical role across the technology stack as financial organisations continue to search for ways to both optimize and simplify their systems.
Organisations looking for reliability and performance deploy *NIX as there are no viable alternatives. The administration of *NIX is changing in line with the move to more agile deployment and operational models. Technology-rich organisations increasingly embrace DevOps, meaning that technologists are required to become more application-development savvy. Scripting to automate processes has always been prevalent in the administration of *NIX distributions but functional development tools are giving way to object orientated (OO) languages and SysAdmins are now expected to do far more than just scripting. Coding in PERL, Python, Java, C++ and other OO languages is becoming the norm – not the exception.
Moreover, the trend toward moving transactional and/or non-business-facing services to low-cost centres has not diminished the need for *NIX technologists who have experience of managing large estates whilst adhering to stringent change control processes.
We are very keen to help organisations who are looking for Systems Engineers with hybrid skill sets or technologists looking for guidance on where their skills might best be utilised.
Server and Virtualisation
The Server and Virtualisation landscape has changed radically over the last few years, exacerbated by recent financial turmoil and changes in operational practices (DevOps).
As the vendor community continues to innovate and promote platforms that improve access and mobility, technologists are faced with deploying and managing highly complex eco-systems. Furthermore, with Microsoft withdrawing support for Windows Server 2003, engineering teams have had to contend with large scale Windows 2012 and 2012 R2 upgrades whilst still continuing to evaluate next-generation technologies.
With all this in mind, our clients are looking for technologists that can maintain the operational “status quo” but help drive change across on-premise and Cloud-based systems. Automation, and embracing agile deployment and operational techniques are becoming key as the line between application development and infrastructure operations continue to blur.
We are keen to work with clients who are looking to engage resource for migration or transformation programmes. Equally, if you are an infrastructure technologist looking for your next assignment we’d gladly discuss your requirements.
Market Data and Exchange Connectivity
Market Data and Exchange Connectivity is the lifeblood of the global financial markets – it delivers the data that drives trading activity and the infrastructure that facilitates trade execution.
Etonwood is well established in both the technical and commercial sectors of Market Data, and we are fully aware of the challenges that both sides of the industry currently face. Consumers of market data are exposed to the risk of large fines from the vendor and exchange community, predominantly due to inappropriately configured applications.
This is a headache for both commercial and the technical Market Data functions. In addition, mergers and consolidation across the industry are also a major cause for concern as questions are raised around support and product longevity, causing most organisations to look at alternatives, whether this is evaluating new to market solutions or developing in-house products.
We are very keen to assist organisations that are looking to navigate the new commercial landscape by providing best-in-class Analysts or Vendor and Sourcing Managers. Equally, if you are looking to leverage your investment by re-engineering your Market Data technology, or you would like to migrate to a new market alternative, we are able to provide engineers, architects, project managers and developers to assist with your transition.
